Happy Halloween!

I was so excited about Halloween this year mainly because Jameson was old enough to pick his own costume! Last year, he fully understood the concept of it and LOVED trick-or-treating. But, Darin and I picked his costume. This year when we asked him what he wanted to be, it was no surprise what he picked! Darth Vader of course. I asked him if Gwendolyn should be Yoda and he said, "no Mommy, she's a girl. She needs to be a girl." So since we did not have a lot to choose from, Gwendolyn was going to be Princess Leia! Then because we were invited to the Bradley Halloween party, Darin and I decided to jump in on the fun and ordered us some Han Solo and Leia costumes!

Jameson's excitement when he opened his costume was so awesome. He, of course, immediately had to "try it on". He wore it many times over the next few days. The best part of the costume though, was the light saber I got him. It was twice as much as his whole costume combined, but it was worth it...the excitement that he had when he opened it was priceless!! The first Halloween activity was the Bradley party. Jameson had so much fun that we had to pull him out of there to leave! He loved playing with all the kids and especially loved getting to show off his costume! Funny part is though that he actually ditched the costume after a few hours because he was so busy playing with all the kids. I then found him later wearing someone's ladybug wings :).

The next fun activity was going trick-or-treating at my work. I took the kids on October 30 since Jameson had school on Halloween. He made out like a bandit!! He even got some money and a mini light saber!! Then on Halloween, he got to go trick-or-treating at school! He was so excited to show me the loot he got from everyone. That night, my whole family came over per our annual Halloween ritual. It was COLD and RAINY and just nasty out, but we were all troopers and had a great time trick or treating! There was one house with a big scary ghost/pumpkin head inflatable that also had a smoke machine...Jameson was not a huge fan of this. At all. But, other than that, the two of us were the last ones standing with regards to trick-or-treating! He wanted to keep going when everyone else headed back to our house, so I stayed with him and we had a great time! We were cold and wet when we got home, but it was so worth it. I love being able to watch him do this type of stuff. The excitement and joy almost brings me to tears.

So, with the three different times trick-or-treating, the kid had tons of candy. Couple that with the fact that I bought way too much candy and didn't have very many trick or treaters, we have enough candy to last us to Christmas and probably beyond! But, it's fun for him to be able to pick out a treat after he's eaten his dinner - the excitement every night of what to choose is a great motivator for getting him to finish his meals :). All in all, we had another very successful Halloween! Gwendolyn will still probably be too little to be able to enjoy it next year, but it'll still be fun to have two of them running around!
