More 16 month Jamesonisms

I completely forgot some of the cutest stuff that Jameson has been doing as of late - I said this would happen!
  • The child loves to talk on the phone...or the remote, or the magnet on Aunt Lindsay's desk at work that is a mini iPhone, etc. He puts the phones (or whatever other gadget) up to his ear and says, "hiii" and smiles. It is so cute. However, when we actually try to have him talk to someone, he just kind of stares and looks confused! We usually get a wave out of him, but obviously the other person can't see or hear that!
  • I know I reported a few months ago that Jameson can correctly identify some body parts. Well, the list has grown quite a bit and now he can identify these things on everyone...including his stuffed animals! He can point out: eyes, ears, mouth, nose, chin, hair, head, forehead, toes, feet, knees, shoulders, tummy, belly button, elbow, arm, hands, fingers and my new favorite...knuckles! We taught him how to give knuckles, but almost every time when we ask, he actually points to our knuckles...hilarious! But, he just giggles when we give "knucks" and make our hands explode!
  • He is starting to cut down our night time routine, in that after we are done reading books, he points to his crib and says nigh nigh. We used to rock and sing and cuddle, but he is starting to want to go straight to his crib. I am both sad and thrilled. But, now I just have to say our prayer and get my cuddles and hugs in before I turn out the light.
  • Naps are the same way. I ask him if he is ready for a nap and if he is, he will say nigh nigh (yeah, everything is nigh nigh when he is sleepy!) and then start walking upstairs. He will go straight to his room and then point to his crib or start climbing on it. He sometimes will let out a protest cry at night and at nap time, but it never lasts longer than a few seconds before he flops down. Most awesome kid ever! I honestly am not sure how we got so lucky with him, but I hope it continues and thank my lucky stars!!
  • He is also a flopper when he sleeps. Best way to describe it. He flops around and kicks his legs and moves a lot. Darin thinks this is why he sleeps so long - maybe he isn't getting completely restful sleep the whole night. It is really cute to watch in the monitor though....but, I know it's not so cute when you are trying to sleep with him, so Gma Kim and Debbie say :).
  • I need to just emphasize how amazing it is to hear him say Mama every time I walk into the room or when he needs something from me. It seriously melts my heart every single time and he has been doing it for months. He does the same for Dada, Ray, Grandma and Pawpaw too. And, the best is when I leave the room for some reason or after bath time with Daddy when he is looking for me...I hear his little voice yelling, "MA MA"! I love it. He definitely likes to have us all in the same room, otherwise, you hear him yelling for the person who is missing!
  • He is very good about drinking out of regular cups with straws now. And, he is starting to move toward actually cups with the sippy lids now. Getting so grown up!
  • We have created a monster with the signing. He signs "more" all of the time now. Hilarious because he only uses his pointer fingers, so we joke that maybe he just wants a little more. But, he will sign it, say "moh" and then run to the snack drawer! Sometimes he hasn't even had anything yet and he starts doing it. It is SUPER cute, but a little exhausting!
  • He has also a pro at the milk sign. He will walk to the fridge and just start signing it. So awesome!
  • We are working on the signs for water, mama, dada, grandma, grandpa, please and thank you, but he tends to just laugh when I do some of these! He is getting better at thank you though!
  • He gets very excited when he sees planes and will point and squeal "pane".
  • We were also laying in the grass one day and I was pointing out the clouds and the sky, so he's been saying "sye" a lot lately.
  • That is all for now - just wanted to add a few things that I had forgotten last week!

Can't handle all that cuteness.

    Happy 4th of July!!

I decided to do a separate post on this since it was Jameson's first time watching fireworks. Figured it was a momentous event that warranted its own post! He did amazing. He is at that age where you just never know how these types of things will go - could go wonderfully or could flop horribly.  It was nine thousand degrees outside, so that had me a little worried too (OK, it was only 89, but still). Luckily, he is awesome, so it was a great night!

We packed up at Mom and Dad's and headed to Miller Park a little after 8. It wasn't too crowded yet, so we picked a great spot and put our blankets down and waited. Jameson and Braden entertained each other for awhile and then Jameson made his rounds. He started with my Dad for awhile and then got very intrigued by Jeremy's phone and camped out in his lap for quite some time. He then went to my Mom and played in her purse for awhile. Back to Jeremy, said hi to me, played with Dad's hat, etc. Fireworks didn't even start until about 9:20, so I was very impressed that he did so well for that hour we waited.

You could tell he was getting tired and once he put that plug in his mouth, his wobbly sleep walk started. But, he was just go-go-go and when the fireworks started he sat down with Jeremy and was entranced. After a few minutes, he came and sat with me (actually I think Jeremy knew that I probably wanted to share that moment with him, so he kind of handed him to me...so intuitive!!). Jameson stared intently at the fireworks for awhile and then I think realized he was getting sleepy, so he jumped up and moved to the next person, my Mom.  Stayed there for a few minutes and then traveled to each one of our laps over and over in an effort not to fall asleep!! It was adorable, but he seemed to enjoy the fireworks saying a few "ooohs" and "ahhhs" and "booms"...or at least didn't get scared of them at all, so I count that as SUCCESS!! He was a hot, sweaty mess and tired to boot, but didn't get fussy in the least bit. He was sooo good and I was sooo happy and proud of my little bean.

After they were over, we made the long, hot walk back to the cars. Jameson stole Darin's hat (as he usually does) as he was putting him in the car seat and put it on his head. As we pulled out of the parking lot, I couldn't see the hat on his head, but figured he threw it on the floor. I think he was honestly asleep before we even pulled into the street! We got to my Mom and Dad's and when we went to get him, he had pulled the hat over his face and was sound asleep. Too cute. Brought him inside and he woke up when we put his jammies on. Mom took him into their bedroom and they watched TV for awhile and he eventually fell asleep again around 11! We decided to let him stay at my Mom and Dad's so he'd be able to sleep in....and that he did! Little monkey slept until 11:45am!!

Overall, it was a great night and I am glad he wasn't terrified of the fireworks. Hopefully, it stays that way in the years to come!!

Red, (kind of) white, and blue breakfast!
Playing in the pool to stay cool!
    Guess he was thirsty!
    Just resting.
Playing over at Gma Debbie and Ray's!
    Ha!
Playing at Miller Park before the fireworks.

    Adorable picture!
I love this picture! Uncle Jeremy is definitely Jameson's buddy!
    Another adorable shot!
    Time for the fireworks!!
    So captivated!
We were hot, sweaty messes, but I loved sharing this experience with my bean!

Sleepy bean didn't even make it out of the parking lot.
I cracked up when we went to get him out of his seat and found
    him like this! Successful night!

    16 Months!!

Sounds a bit proud, but Jameson is seriously learning, growing and changing so fast, so I know I am not getting everything in writing. I try my hardest because it escapes me so fast, but I know there are things that I miss documenting. Good thing I take 5000 pictures/videos a month to supplement! Onto the good stuff...

    • You will shiver and say "burrrr" when you are cold now (in the bathtub mostly).
    • Your Dad LOVES this one...you noticed my tattoo on my toe (again), but this time you tried rubbing it off. Like Father, like son since he's been doing that for 9 years!
    • Teeth galore!! One of your top molars has broken through the gums and one on the bottom has as well. Then two more, one on the bottom and another on top, are almost there. Your top canines look like they are trying to come through too.
    • Whenever someone comes into a room or something, you say "hiiiii" in a really high voice and get really excited. I think it's because we all have been doing that to you since you were itty bitty. It's freaking adorable!
    • You laugh and/or get super excited when you see the Weather Bear come on the TV or when you see the polar bear on ice machines.
    • You LOVE watching Little Einsteins and get beyond excited when you hear the first note of the song.
    • You also love watching the Baby Einsteins Da Vinci video at Gma Debbie and Ray's. Holy cow, you get the most excited I have ever seen you when that DVD is on. It is quite possibly one of the funniest things ever!! I will definitely have to get better video, but here is a subdued version! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTLHYcA1ITY&feature=youtube_gdata_player
    • I have been working on getting you to "show me your muscles". You mostly just laugh when I do it, but you definietly lift your arms up like you are trying to show me your guns. So cute.
    • You really like to brush your teeth. So much so that when you are at Gma Debbie and Ray's, you push the stool up to the bathroom counter and try to get your toothbrush yourself. You also make the gesture with your finger like you are brushing your teeth when you want your toothbrush. You are a smart little cookie!! I know you are like that when you are out at Gma Kim and Pawpaw's too!
    • You have said a few new words clear as day, some of which are super impressive
      • Peach: have to show the video because it sounds like you are saying, "eatin' a peach". I laugh every time I watch this. You can say it clear as a bell though.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzLW1fQhyBs&feature=youtube_gdata_player
      • Potato: it's more like ohh-tay-toe.
      • Nack: snacks. You will squeal this and then run to the "snack" drawer!
      • Uncle: sounds like Uncho, but you know to look at Jeremy, Derek or Scott when we say it!
      • Scott (as in Uncle Scott): your Dad thinks you got this one down because of your Scout dog.
      • Pretzel and freckle: I am lumping them together because they sound very similar when coming out of your mouth.
      • Bib: you are quite hooked on saying bib and trying to put on your own bibs now. When you see it in your diaper bag, you get really excited too and have to grab it.
      • Owl: courtesy of Baby Einstein video
      • Hippo: also courtesy of Baby Einstein and your little baby pool with hippos on it!
      • Not words, but you now have the monkey sound down to a tee. Whenever you see a monkey, it's "ooohh ooohh ahh ahh" or sometimes "eeh eeh eeh". Too funny.
      • You will throw a pillow down, say nigh-nigh and then fake snore!! Not sure how to write that sound out phonetically, but we all know that sound!
      • Tick tock. I was saying it one night while giving you a bath and you started repeating it and smiling.
      • You say "weeeeee" when you go down your slide.
    • You also try to sing now and it is absolutely heart melting! I love it.
    • Whenever you see a baby on TV or in a book, you squeal "behbee" and get so excited. You love your cousin Madison and your friend Will and are very gentle with them. You like to study them and softly brush their faces. It's seriously adorable.
    • You also seem to think all Panda Bears are "behbees" because I started calling your favorite one your baby when you were about 9 months old. You love carrying them around and giving them hugs and kisses. We were at the mall and when we walked by Panda Express, you walked by the Panda bear and yelled "behbee" really loudly with a huge smile on your face!
    • In the morning on the way to Nicole's or Gma Debbie and Ray's, you will shut the straw on your milk and then say "MaMa" and want me to open it. You giggle and then I say "ready?" before I hand it back and you answer with "ready!". So cute!! You also play this game with Daddy and really anyone driving!
    • You have a puzzle that makes animal sounds and when it does, you move your mouth like you are mimicking them. You learned this from Braden, but it seriously makes me fall on the floor laughing.
    • You are obsessed with your belly button again. You like to show it off and then you like to show off mine and your Daddy's...fun stuff!
    • We always look at our family wedding pictures because you like to identify everyone in them. We will spend forever doing it - you point to someone, I say the name. You think it's hilarious. You then repeat or I point and you say the name. You also get really excited when you see people in person and can identify them by name!
    • When you bump your head or get a boo-boo, I will ask if you want the boo bunny and you immediately run to the freezer and grab the boo bunny and put it on your head (even if that's not where your boo-boo is!). It is so funny and cute! Then you will put it on my head or Daddy's head just in case we have a boo boo too. You also like me to kiss your boo boos now!
    • You are SO good about helping us get you dressed (unless you are in a mood!). But, when we say the article of clothing, you know where it goes and will help us put it on you/take it off.
    • Whenever we give you a kleenex, you know to blow your nose. I am not sure you are really blowing anything into the tissue, but you put it up to your nose and make the noise :). When I ask you if you need a tissue, you run to the bathroom and grab one!
    • Same with napkins/paper towels...you understand that they are to wipe your face/hands!
    • You found the velcro in the back of your Mickey doll and Scout and always try to figure out how everything works in there. Daddy's little engineer!
    • Grandma Kim is very good about getting you to pick up your toys, so we are trying to do that more at home too!
    • You really like to push things. Kitchen chairs, patio furniture, your slide, toys, etc. Baby Hulk!
    • You had a few more sleepovers with both sets of Grandparents. I was super sick one night when Daddy was out of town, so Gma Debbie and Ray took you. You also got to stay with Gma Kim and PawPaw!
    • You have kind of become a hoarder! Not really a hoarder, but you take your things and you hide them places and then we find them later (sometimes!). It's really awesome when you hide your milk!
    • You are one lucky little dude. Not only do your Dad and I adore everything about you, but your grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins love you to pieces too! You make us smile and laugh on a daily basis and for that, we are thankful!! Guess that means we are even more lucky!!

    16 months, wow!
