King of the Castle! : 3 Year Appointment!

We had your 3 year well check up today. Good timing considering you started telling us last night that your ear hurt! Turns out you had a nasty ear infection in your left ear. Other than last night though, you hadn't said a boo! I hate that you are sicky on your birthday, but overall, you seem to be acting OK (minus a few end of the world cry fests!) and hopefully the meds will get you all better by your big birthday party this weekend!

You weigh 36 1/4 pounds (89%) and are 39 inches tall (88.4%)...but you were slouching a little, so I am still saying you are closer to 40! You were loving playing with all of Dr. Emm's equipment...he gave you his stethoscope and you were having a blast. You were dancing like they were headphones and then really started shaking when I had you listen to your heartbeat - like Mother, like Son...we dance to any beat we can find!!! You also love to play with the tongue depressors and he always lets you have some. The second you get it in your hands, you break it like Hulk. You also loved getting your blood pressure taken - such a big boy!! You did great showing off your social skills and he told us that all of your recent behaviors are signs of a very healthy child...I guess we can call it that :).

You were most unhappy when you heard the conversation move to flu shots! We are terrible and never got you one, but Dr. Emm highly recommended getting one because it seems to be peaking right now. Neither one of us wanted to do that to you, but we felt it was probably better in the long run. You were extremely unhappy when she poked you and it took awhile to calm you down. But, Daddy got you excited when he mentioned that you were going to get to go with him to get his haircut...and then go to Culver's to see the fishies and eat lunch. There may also have been talks of getting ice cream afterwards :). However, after you left Daddy's haircut, you said you didn't want to go into the "place with the blue roof" (Culver's) and just wanted to get it to go. You seemed a bit run down by this point. Once you got home, Daddy put in a movie since you weren't feeling the best and after you ate, you asked if he could stop it and save it for later because you needed to go rest...clearly, you weren't feeling well!! You took a solid nap and still seemed pretty blah when I got home from work. We snuggled quite a bit and you seemed in good spirits - just not quite up to par. And, you definitely reminded us more than once how you didn't like your shot...I have a feeling we will be hearing about this for quite some time!

Luckily, no shots for a long time, which we have had to repeat to you quite a few times! Overall, you did fantastic as always and I am so glad we went when we did so we can help with that ear.
